KeystoneREN Now Providing University of Pittsburgh With 100G Internet2 Connectivity, Robust Redundancy

The University of Pittsburgh and KeystoneREN announced they have recently entered into a new agreement for KeystoneREN to provide Pitt with 100 Gigabit Internet2 connectivity.

KeystoneREN and Pitt have a long history of collaboration, but the new 100G Internet2 connection demonstrates both Pitt’s dedication to innovation and KeystoneREN’s ability to provide scalable and redundant access to the broader research and education network. The connection will provide the university with the best available connectivity, access, and capabilities to support the increased network demands of a global research university. In addition, the change improves Pitt’s connection redundancy and improves cloud service connectivity through leveraging I2 dedicated network connections.

Internet2 is a community driven provider of secure high-speed network, cloud solutions, research support, and services tailored for research and education.

Mark D. Henderson, chief information officer of the University stated that “We’re delighted to join forces with KeystoneREN, a collaboration that ensures reliable connectivity with scalable infrastructure that’s crucial for the University’s ongoing digital transformation. This change reflects our commitment to fiscal responsibility, resulting in $75,000 of annual cost savings, while enabling the University to continue advancing that it’s possible at Pitt.”

KeystoneREN is a Pennsylvania based non-profit corporation that provides access, services, and support for research and education. The driving focus of KeystoneREN is to advance research and education networking empowering communities across the state.

“KeystoneREN is excited to provide the University of Pittsburgh with the greatest possible network performance and 100G connectivity.
